Concord take Crucible by storm

Setting yet another "first" for drum corps, CONCORD took to the world-famous thrust stage of the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield (home to the World Snooker Championships) to play for an audience of young drummers and their parents and teachers.

For the last 20 years local drum teacher Toni Cannelli, though his Drummers Alliance organisation, has presented an event for the Sheffield Children's Festival. This year "Beat 2007" saw Concord repeat their appearance of 1987 by giving a short clinic on drum corps percussion then performing their 2007 "Diamonds & Divas" show. The reaction from the 800-strong audience was fantastic - they really loved the show and the percussion element in particular.

Sharing the bill were Pete Ray Biggin (the 1993 winner of the Drummers Alliance contest) now touring with Amy Winehouse, Pete Gill (ex Motorhead and Saxon) and Mark Ronson.

Concord snare drummer Alex Gladwin represented the corps in the Senior (13 - 17 years) drum kit competition and, although he didn't win, thoroughly enjoyed himself and learned a lot from the experience.

Concord is proud to have been associated with Drummers Alliance for the past twenty years and wishes them and all the young drummers involved the very best for the future.
