DCE cancels UK Regional Contest

DCE regrets to announce the cancellation of the UK regional contest to be held at Crystal Palace in London on June 21 2008. This is due to a number of Corps withdrawing from the show in recent weeks, as well as problems with the venue. 

DCE Chairman Marcel Matthijsse said "We are bitterly disappointed that we have had to cancel this years regional. However we have learnt a lot of lessons during this process and I want to stress that DCE will keep looking for future opportunities to organise an event in the UK." 

In the last months DCE was confronted with additional costs for the event, including raised costs for the venue. Several corps, including Blue Lions, Northern Star, Jubal, Jong Jubal and Federatieband had to withdraw for different reasons, which resulted in people asking for a refund for their tickets. 

The board of DCE would like to thank all the people who worked so hard in trying to make this event happen, particularly Ray Westbrook and the Pacemakers who's help proved invaluable over the last 6 months. 

Drum corps fans who already ordered their tickets will receive a refund for their tickets.
