News from Spirit of Coventry

Following two school workshops during Marching Youth Music Month, the Spirit Of Coventry Drum & Bugle Corps have increased their membership from 18 to currently 41. This has left them all excited at the prospects and as part of the Corps plans they are hoping to perform at the 2009 DCUK finals in Mansfield. Although the show will be a static performance, Spirit are pleased to be able to be part of the 30th Anniversary of DCUK.

The 2009 show will see the Corps perform their Closer with all its new members. This piece will also become the Corps anthem and will link as the Corps opener for 2010. Spirits are really high after a difficult 8 months.

The Corps are really pleased to have the support of the Allesley Primary School in Coventry and their Headteacher Mathew Potts (a past member of Godiva Gold) endorses this move by saying "The children are keen to join in and extend their love of music. The fact that there is a drum corps within our school, who have the very best free to use equipment and no joining fee is an excellent opportunity for all."

"I am very proud of the link with Spirit of Coventry", continued Potts, "It enhances our children’s opportunities and gives them an exciting musical adventure."

Spirit of Coventry would like people for all their support and help offered so far. With the rapid growth of the Corps they are now looking for additional instructors in all areas, if you feel this could be you please contact the Corps at www.spiritofcoventry.com.
