Kidsgrove Scouts come out on top in Europe

On Saturday 25th September the 2010 DCUK Champions, Kidsgrove Scouts, completed their season by being crowned European Champions at the Drum Corps Europe Championships in Kerkrade, Holland.

After the Prelims section of the day the Scouts were only 0.3 ahead of another of the UK based Corps, The Company, however, despite a superb performance by The Company in the evening, Kidsgrove stretched there lead to 1.45 in the Finals event to win the European title for the first time.

The other UK Corps in the Finals did themselves proud with the Black Knights jumping a spot from Prelims to end in 5th Place, Dagenham Crusaders, back in competition after 22 years, coming in in 7th Place and Staffordshire Knights, attending this event for the first time, grabbing 10th Place.

So in the Final 10 there were 5 UK Corps, 3 Dutch Corps, 1 Italian Corps and 1 German Corps (see scores below).

Two other British Corps also took part but did not quite make it through into the Finals - Poynton Commodores just missed out on Finals spot in 11th Place whilst Trinity were placed 16th.  For all scores and recaps - click here
