Concord takes to the World stage

Press Release by Concord

“TRAMLINES” is a major music festival held over 4 days in over 60 venues around the city and featuring over 300 bands and music groups from around the world. Pop, Folk, Bollywood and almost every type of music you can imagine is being included in this amazing totally free event. Billed as the “Northern Glastonbury” (without the mud) this highlight of the music festival year is anticipated to attract total audiences of around 175,000 music fans. Whilst many gigs will take place in pubs, clubs and other venues, there are 4 main stages situated around the Sheffield city centre.

The most central of these is situated in the city’s award-winning Peace Gardens right next to the Town Hall. Designated “The World Stage”, the programme will be headlined by acclaimed reggae veterans Johnny Clarke and Michael Prophet. Also lined up are Shooglenifty who mix Scottish dance music with electronic loops and funk bass, Turkish band Oojami, Bertie Lee's Blues Band, Jungle Lion, Balkan Bandits and Romano Jiloogramme – amongst others.

Concord Youth Music is honoured to be recognised as being of sufficient quality to perform alongside such acts and we are looking forward enormously to the experience of playing a 30-minute set before a large festival crowd.

Director Roger Steele said " It is fantastic to take our music to a large and enthusiastic audience. We are proud of our long history in drum corps but since taking our leap of faith away from the competitive circuit and into the wider field of entertainment we have been able to introduce new audiences to our kind of music."

For full details of “Tramlines” and full gig listings (23 pages !) including Heaven 17, Pixie Lott, Kate Jackson Group and Lords of Flatbush visit : www.tramlines.org.uk.

Look forward to seeing you at the festival.
