Midwestern Sweep at DCA Championships

What a weekend!

The Govenaires from St. Peter, MN, notched their 3rd Class A Championship on September 4, 2011 with an 84.93. Fusion Core from Morris County, NJ finished second with an 83.93, just edging out 3rd place Carolina Gold, who were only .08 behind with an 83.85 . Windsor Regiment, from Princeton Junction, NJ was the fourth finalist scoring 78.23 in their very first year in competition.

Just a couple of hours after the Govenaires turned in their championship performance, Minnesota Brass from St. Paul MN claimed the DCA Open Class World Championship, ending the astounding six-year run of the Reading Buccaneers. Minnesota Brass scored 98.35, followed by Buccaneers with a 97.45 .

In the Mini-Corps Championship, Star United from Indianapolis, IN shocked the packed house at the Rochester Convention Center on Friday night, September 2 with a stunning performance that earned them a score of 100 points!

And how about a standing-O for the Reading Buccaneers! What an accomplishment; six consecutive undefeated seasons, 64 straight 1st place finishes. An amazing accomplishment and a record that will be very tough to beat!

So we say goodbye to Rochester, New York - home of the DCA World Championship for the last six years as we set sail for Annapolis, Maryland for 2012 and 2013. Tickets are already on sale, exclusively through Drum Corps International.

If you have never been to a DCA World Championship weekend, you must! Not only is it 3 days of competitions, its largest drum corps social event you'll ever experience. Class A, Open Class, Prelims, Finals, Mini Corps, Individuals and Ensembles, a huge drum corps party for fans of all ages.
