The Company 2012: 'Red Riding Hood'

Press Release from the Company

The 2012 edition of THE COMPANY Performance Ensemble will see us tell a story that has been around since the 17th Century. Retold and performed in our own unique way, we intend to bring an age, old fairytale to the drum corps field. RED RIDING HOOD will allow the corps to explore the tale’s highs and lows in a way we believe will put our own twist on the classic fable.

Craig Sherratt adds, “Entertainment and Challenge are the first things we need to address when picking a programme and once again I believe we have this. The show will give us a classic famous story which will sell itself, a great soundtrack to back this provided by Andrew Markworth, some very strong visual images provided by our own in-house creative visual partnership of Ian Butt and myself, plus the chance to add our own adaptation to this tale. I hope all ages will enjoy our take on Red Riding Hood, it will be a show aimed at entertaining my children, an audience and the adjudicators alike”.

The corps will perform throughout England and Europe in the summer of 2012. Director Mark Nicholson commented, “It goes without saying how excited we are for the coming year. We have a winter to look forward to, with participation within the indoor drum line circuits of both WGUK and IPE, plus the opportunity to compete at both DCUK and DCE as the current European Champions, also to return in competition to BYBA after a gap of twelve months. I am extremely proud of how far we have come in such a short time, but know we still have plenty of places still to explore”.

2012 sees the return of our dedicated programme team, led by Mark Pickles, which includes:
Brass: Andy Cartwright (CH), Mark Bolton & Robin Barraclough
Percussion: Mark Pickles (CH), Justine Lloyd & Steven Ansell
Colour Guard: Ian Butt (CH), Ian Holling & Julie Barraclough
Visual: Craig Sherratt (CH), Wayne Hemming, Christian Bradbury, Glenn Kilshaw & Michelle Cheney.
