Concord Hold A Clinic at Local Maltese School
CONCORD Drum and Bugle Corps are pleased to announce that, as part of their tour of Malta in October 2006, they will be presenting a clinic and demonstration at a local school.
The Carlo Diacono Girls' Junior Lyceum is a state all-girls school with 1,000 pupils situated in Zejtun in the South of the island. All members of the school plus parents have been invited to attend and a very large audience is predicted for the Saturday morning event.
Concord will be the first-ever drum and bugle corps to visit the Mediterranean island and the musical and performance concepts are totally unfamiliar to the inhabitants. The corps will present a short clinic, introducing and demonstrating all the individual instruments and how they are played and rehearsed. There will be solo and sectional demonstrations of both musical and visual exercises followed by a full performance by the corps in the school’s sports area. Following this, pupils will be invited to meet members of the corps informally and to try out the instruments.
In return for their contributions, the corps will be provided with a lunch and the use of a school coach for an afternoon recreational excursion. All arrangements are by courtesy of the School Council.
