Drum Corps Europe Finals

On Saturday 23rd September Drum Corps Europe held its Championships event in Rotterdam, Holland and 5 British units formed part of the main 16 Corps Open Class with all 5 making it through to the 12 Corps evening Finals.

Jubal from Holland were crowned European Champions with Northern Star coming an extremely close 2nd, only 0.05 points behind and The Senators grabbing 3rd place only 0.15 points behind that - it could have been anyone night!  

The other UK Corps showed what a high standard of performance there actually is in this country with Black Knights taking 6th place and 6th Hove Scouts and Distant Thunder coming in 8th and 12th respectively.

"It was a great event and the support for all units, especially the British contingent, was superb" stated Alan Thompson, DCUK Deputy Chairman, who attended the Championships as a guest of DCE, "plus it was also a great opportunity to meet up again with our European counterparts and also with Don Acheson, the DCI CEO, who was making his first ever visit to Europe and I hope we can continue to build on this in the years to come".

To add to the truly International flavour of the event there were a number of UK Judges adjudicating throughout the day.
