Brass Workshop Takes Place This Weekend

As previously announced on the DCUK Web Site, High Brass are hosting their “Brass Workshop” this weekend on Saturday 21st October 2006 at The Pyramid Arts Centre, Warrington.

Seventeen players have been selected by their corps to take part in the day’s events and will spend an afternoon with High Brass under the directorship of Ian Darrington, MBE who is the UK Chairman of the International Association of Jazz Educators and a highly respected tutor in the world of jazz. The participants, from Poynton Commodores, Cheshire Cadets, Concord and Kidsgrove Scouts are:

The afternoon workshop starts at 12.00pm and is open to everyone. High Brass would encourage those wishing to watch the seminar to come along and enjoy the open rehearsal as entrance is free to those with tickets for the evening performance (a £2 entrance fee will be charged for those wishing to watch the afternoon workshop only)

A full evenings performance will be given by High Brass starting at 7.30pm and will conclude with all the participants of the brass workshop taking to the stage and playing alongside High Brass bringing the days events to a fantastic conclusion.

“The band is really looking forward to this weekend.” Says Chris Jones, the director of High Brass, “we hope that the participants enjoy their experience and take something from it which they can apply to their involvement in the drum corps activity. We’re proud to be in a position to give something back after all that drum corps gave us in the past.”
