The Company and Concord retain their crowns in 2016

Weather wise Widnes has been very kind to us over the past few years and this year was no exception - the sun shone and even though it was not overly warm the conditions were near perfect as DCUK returned for the 4th successive year to the fantastic facilities of the Select Security Stadium in Widnes, Cheshire for the 37th British Drum Corps Championships. Despite the previous few days rain the “i-pitch” astro turf pitch once again provided a perfect marching surface for the competing units and so the scene was set for the 2016 Drum Corps United Kingdom season to come to an exciting climax.

The day started at 1pm with all 9 Open Class Corps competing in the Preliminary contest would decide the order for the evening floodlit Open Class Finals...

And so for the Championships events...

We only had the one Corps in Junior Class this season (Concord AllStars) but they did not let this deter them from putting on a great performance which really got the audience fired up and as the floodlights came on they got the Finals off to a flying start.

And so we moved straight to the Open Class Finals. A slight increase in audience numbers from last year was great to see and there really is nothing like watching Drum Corps under the lights to get the crowd on their feet supporting all the Corps - and this year was no different with the support shown throughout the event being magnificent. 

There were some epic battles taking place thorough out the class and in the end The Company were triumphant winning their third DCUK British Championships title plus taking all the Caption Awards this year. Kidsgrove Scouts came in 2nd Place for the Silver Medal with Cadence coming in 3rd for the Bronze medal.
