DCUK Woking - 2nd July - Results and Recaps

Another glorious day weather wise for the second contest in the 2017 DCUK season on Sunday 2nd July and we were back at Kingsfield Stadium in Woking for the Cadence Spectacular.

With this being the only southern based contest of the season there was, as always, a good size and very appreciative audience in the impressive goal end stand to enjoy a great afternoon of Drum Corps.

First on in the Junior and Class, and making a welcome return to DCUK competition after a year away, were Thurrock Marching Brass performing a Willy Wonka themed show and they were followed by our hosts, Cadence, Junior Corps who coincidently  also use the iconic Wonka movies as their theme.

In the Open Class the first three units were all kicking off their 2017 season at this contest and the first to perform today were Liberty, whose show is based around a park bench and the life stories associated.  Next up were our hosts for the day, Cadence, and their show designed around the Stephen Hawking move, Theory of Everything and then The Pacemakers using a time machine as the theme of their performance

After the break we had three more Corps, all of which had competed two weeks earlier at Barnsley, Beeches, The Company and Kidsgrove Scouts, and the now busy stand lapped up the entertainment with standing ovations for all thee units.

And so the scores from the contest were:

JUNIOR CLASS
Cadence Juniors - 41.65
Thurrock Marching Brass - 49.85

OPEN CLASS
The Pacemakers - 48.15
Liberty - 51.40
Cadence - 59.90
Beeches - 62.05
The Company - 73.50
Kidsgrove Scouts - 75.10

Full scores and recaps can be found on our Results Page.

A weekend break from competition and then we are back for the third contest of 2017 at the Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium in Leicester on Sunday 16th July.
