DCUK Leicester - 16th July - Results and Recaps

The third contest in the 2017 DCUK season saw us return to an old favourite venue for Drum Corps - the Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium in Leicester on Sunday 16th July.

Once again it was great to see a good sized audience come out on a slightly overcast, but dry day and support the 10 competing units and it was also great to welcome The Starriders from Germany who travelled over to take part in the competition as well.

The Junior Class looks like to could be a very close contest this year with only 0.6 between the two units and Concord AllStars just edging it over Thurrock Marching Brass on this occasion.

In the Open Class we had 7 units today and a number of little "battles" taking place with it being close between East Coast Elite and Revolution and not too far ahead of these, and with only 0.25 between them, Cadence & Beeches.  Third place today was taken by our visitors from Germany, The Starriders, and then, in a change of fortune from the first two contests, Kidsgrove Scouts came in 2nd with The Company only just over half a point ahead in 1st.

The days performances ended with two entrants in SoundSport as we welcomed Stafford Brigades to their first DCUK event who gave an excellent musical performance that was extremely well received by the crowd and also The Company, who gave us a second viewing of their Wild Things performance - which was debuted  two weeks earlier in Woking

The scores from the contest were:

SOUNDSPORT
Stafford Brigades - Silver
The Company - Gold

JUNIOR CLASS
Thurrock Marching Brass - 51.25
Concord AllStars - 51.85

OPEN CLASS
East Coast Elite - 55.15
Revolution - 59.30
Cadence - 63.30
Beeches - 63.55
Starriders - 67.90
Kidsgrove Scouts - 76.90
The Company - 77.45

The day was rounded off by all the competing members coming together at the front of the field for a group photo - a great way to end a great event.

Full scores and recaps can be found on our Results Page.

We now have our annual summer break and return on Sunday 10th September with our fourth contest of 2017 where we will be at Moseley Rugby Club in Birmingham which will then set us up for the British Drum Corps Championships in Widnes on Saturday 23rd September.
