Individuals & Ensembles Biggest For 10 Years
The 2006 BYBA Individuals & Ensembles Competition was blessed with not only a 10 year record entry level, but also with an extremely appreciative and enthusiastic audience for all sections.
The event, which took place on Saturday 18th November saw over 70 competitors showcase their immense talents and anyone who attended this show would agree that it was extremely entertaining and exciting.
The day was a nail biting event for the individual performers as the race was on to see just who had made enough of an impression on the Judges to allow them to progress into the 4 positions that were to bestow on them the honor of competing again, but this time for the BYBA Young Musician of the Year Title.
It was incredibly tight, with the highest 4 scores from any of the Individual Captions making up this special Finale to the day, and the chance to take the Title for 2006.
In the end, the BYBA Young Musician of the Year was awarded to Justine Lloyd from Northern Star for her performance on Marimba. Congratulations to Justine, and to the other Finalists Joanne Jordan (Distant Thunder, Flute), Andy Cartwright (Northern Star, Soprano) and Matthew Wood (Distant Thunder, Tenor Drums).
Commenting on the day, Paul Cartwright, BYBA’s Chairman of Performance and Contest Director said “I was extremely pleased with the way the event ran, and we had an incredible amount of support which saw individuals in competition from other Organizations outside of BYBA making the whole experience a truly UK wide event. I would like to extend my thanks to all competitors, those that were responsible for making the day run so smoothly, and of course our Judges, again which saw some cross organization involvement which was fantastic!”
Recaps of the whole day and for each caption can be found on the Web site under the Contesting/I&E section.
BYBA would like to congratulate all competitors and spectators for making the day so special, and look forward to an even bigger event next year.
