Press Release - 3rd May

Cadence Drum & Bugle Corps

It is with much regret that The Cadence Drum and Bugle Corps based in Reading, Berkshire have been forced to make the decision to become inactive as a competitive unit for the summer of 2005.

This decision has been an extremely difficult one for the Corps management team to make after many, many years of significant success as both a competitive unit within Drum Corps United Kingdom and as performance unit undertaking many performances for varied audiences throughout the South of England.

The key management personnel of the Cadence organisation and DCUK have been working very closely together throughout recent weeks in an effort to explore avenues of help and support but unfortunately due to its membership profile the corps simply could not foresee being in a position to field a corps during 2005.

The Cadence Organisation are still active and as such are still members of Drum Corps United Kingdom with not one but two thriving cadet units currently based in Reading and Guildford. The Cadence organisation has already embarked on recruitment campaigns and formulated a strategy to rebuild this great organisation from the grass roots level.

The Management team, staff and members of the Cadence Drum and Bugle Corps would appreciate that during the rebuilding process, positive feedback and encouragement be forthcoming so as to aid the recruitment and retention process.

Cadence would also like to wish all units the very best of fortune for this upcoming season and beyond.

John Barclay (Cadence Director)
Joe Fitzpatrick (DCUK Chairman)
