Concord
Winter News
At a well-attended and relaxed "Survivors Day" following the completion of their 23rd successive summer season, CONCORD Drum and Bugle Corps outlined some of their plans for the forthcoming winter season.
Rehearsals of the Corps will re-commence at Croft House on SUNDAY 14th OCTOBER at their early winter timings of 2.00 to 5.00 pm and will continue on regular Thursday evenings (6.30 - 8.30 pm) and Sunday afternoons. Details of 2007 and 2008 music "camps" will be announced shortly after the resumption date.
Some of the activities announced were : the re-launch of the very successful "Street Noize" percussion ensemble (Thursday 18th October). This group will be performing regularly throughout the winter period at a wide range of public venues and is open to all-comers. Also re-launching will be the Concord "WinterBrass" presentation which will include music and movement from an ensemble of brass and percussion players - designed mainly for indoor performance and, once again, open to anyone. It is quite possible that the "Samba Band" will also be making appearances again this winter - parents especially welcome to join in with this fun activity.
The Concord Ceremonial Fanfare Team has a busy schedule of engagements though the winter period including some very prestigious local and national events.
We are delighted to announce that the entire Concord colour guard have signed up to perform with the N.A.P.A. Winterguard organisation in competition for the 2008 season.
Information on the BYBA Individuals and Ensembles contest (Saturday 24th November in Leicester) is eagerly awaited and we expect to have an increased level of entries from all captions this year.
In addition there will be the usual winter programme of social and fundraising events. Watch out for the "Big Screen" video night; the "Concord Chilli Challenge" and another fantastic "Night at the Races".
Details of the 2008 CONCORD show production will, as our traditions demand, be revealed to members and supporters at our annual Awards Evening - to be held at Croft House on Saturday 27th October from 7.30 pm. Voting for the coveted "Conrad" awards has now been completed and we look forward to the usual excellent evening of celebration and entertainment. Also to be revealed on this special evening are details of our plans for an overseas trip in 2008.
CONCORD has vacancies in all captions for experienced performers or beginners. There are also some staff vacancies yet to be filled. For further information, please call 0114 249 1460 or email :
