A NIGHT AT THE WEST END
OPENER - I DREAMED A DREAM FROM LES MISERABLES
Taken from this fantastic musical written by Cameron Mackintosh, the Corps will embark on a melodic pit opening building into a large Ensemble hit hopefully backing a massive impact hit with the use of large silks from the very beginning culminating with a powerful chordal ending.
LUCK BE A LADY FROM GUYS AND DOLLS
The scene is set in downtown New York with a Guy & a Doll who are trying to build a future by Gambling, with music by Frank Loesser this is a time & time revived musical on the west end stage, with a straight opening this piece will develop into a Swing number and shall give a great opportunity to highlight the front line ensemble and guard dexterity with the use of rifle this should be a real crowd pleaser.
SUN & MOON FROM MISS SAIGON
A beautiful ballad from this sensational musical set in Vietnam during which an American GI falls in love with a Vietnamese girl that works in the local bar starting with a mellophone solo this piece builds and builds to the peak of a crescendo before fading away to a tranquil end, with the guard using dance then double handflags this will be a wonderful midpoint to the 2008 production.
MAGICAL MR MISTOFELEES FROM CATS
Taken from Andrew Lloyd Webbers musical Cats this part of the production sees the introduction of many solos and duets given lots of brass players the opportunity of showing their talent. This should get the audience clapping in a cheesy way this should get the crowd humming on the way home as a piece that sticks in the mind like an annoying, but entertaining advert on TV. This will feature also a guard member dressed as a black and white cat that can juggle, do tricks, and gymnastics.
WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN FROM PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
In another musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber this piece is a soft downtime piece featuring solos and building to a climax before fading away to a soft and melodic ending. Hopefully featuring our very own Phantom we couldn’t tour the west end without visiting this ageless musical.
CLOSER – RIVERDANCE FROM RIVERDANCE
With opportunities to feature the drumline in this piece, taken from the Irish Musical / Show Riverdance written by Bill Whelan and first featured on the Eurovision song contest in 1994 this piece builds and builds all the way to the end, a very complex piece that shall definitely stretch the ability of all members and staff, to achieve and deliver a fitting finale to our 2008 production this piece is Powerful, Exciting, Frenetic all the way to the last note.
