Concord - BYBA Young Musician of the Year 

The British Youth Band Association’s “Young Musician of the Year” is based in Sheffield and is an overseas guest of Concord Drum and Bugle Corps.

At a recent competition in Leicester, 16-year-old percussionist Aiko Tomatsu convinced the judges with a sensitive and technically brilliant performance on the marimba.

Aiko is currently a guest member of Concord Drum and Bugle Corps and is a student from Chiba, near Tokyo in Japan who is on a course at Castle College, Sheffield studying to improve her English language. She hopes to become an international interpreter. In Japan she attends Keiai Gakuen High School and plays percussion there in the school wind orchestra.

She has been working with Concord since July last year and will return to Japan in March. Having a wonderful smile and a very friendly personality, Aiko has made many friends and will be sorely missed when she returns home.
