DCUK
join BYBA in the West Country
Due to the small number of Corps that had registered for the Weston Super Mare contest
on Saturday 5th July it has been decided that it is not really viable to run a contest on this
date. However, Drum Corps United Kingdom are pleased to announce that on Sunday
6th July, in association with the British Youth Band Association and Midsomer Norton
Marching Brass there will now be a DCUK section forming part of the day at the Somer
Sounds Youth Band Contest being held at Paulton Rovers Football Club.
The three Corps that had committed to attend the Saturday contest, Kidsgrove Scouts,
Poynton Commodores and Senators, will all now be taking part in proceedings on the
Sunday and DCUK would like thank both BYBA and Midsomer Norton MB for
accommodating the Corps.
Chris Hansford, the Contest Director, commented “Midsomer Norton
Marching Brass are delighted to be able to facilitate a
competitive DCUK class within the Somer Sounds contest.
We hope our DCUK friends enjoy the day as much as we
will enjoy hosting them.”
Alan Thompson, on behalf of DCUK added “A full DCE/DCUK judging panel will be in
place for the DCUK section of the contest and I hope the addition of these performances
will add to the day and help make it great event and
will hopefully encourage more joint
ventures across our activity in the future.”
BYBA Chairman, Tony Patrick also commented "We
are happy to be able to accommodate these Corps into our
day and look forward to more cross association events in
the future."
Doors open for the 2008 Somer Sounds Youth Band Contest at
9.30am with the results scheduled for approximately 6pm and the entry price is £2 for
spectators aged 15 years and over and is free for under 15’s.
All units attending will receive full information by the
end of this week.
