Kidsgrove Scouts do the double & Cheshire Cadets win A Class

The 2010 British Drum Corps season came to a dramatic close on the evening of Saturday 18th September at Mansfield Town Football Club with the Kidsgrove Scouts retaining their British Champions crown.

The day started with all 13 Open Class Corps performing to secure a top in the top 8 to move forward into the Open Class Finals with the remaining 5 Corps then competing for the A Class title.  There were a number of little "battles" taking place throughout the rankings and by 2pm we had the scores and the order for the two Finals were decided - click here for the recap.

Before these events took place we were superbly entertained by the 4 Corps competing for the British Junior Class Champions title which was secured by the ever improving Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors although the 37th Kingswood Cadets were very close on their tail - click here for the recap.

In the A Class the Cheshire Cadets were crowned Champions with Spirit of Coventry taking the Silver in their first year of competition and 37th Kingswood the bronze - click here for the recap.

With the floodlights now on the Open Class Finals commenced at 6.30pm. Black Knights held onto their 3rd Place and the Bronze medal position and then an announcement not heard for 24 years - the top two Corps had the same score!  With Kidsgrove Scouts having the higher Effect Captions score they were crowned the 2010 British Champions with The Company taking 2nd Place and the Silver medal - click here for the recap.

Congratulations to all Corps for an excellent days entertainment and we look forward to what 2011 will bring as DCUK enters its 32nd year as the Home of British Drum Corps.
