Bradford
Contest results and report
On Sunday 17th June the rain held off and the sun
even came out to welcome in the first Drum Corps United Kingdom contest of the 2012 season
which was held at Horsfall Stadium in Bradford.
In a new initiative - a British Youth Band Association contest took place in the morning at the same venue and then after lunch the DCUK event took place.
For the past few years the first contest of the season has taken place at the beginning of July and even though this was two weeks earlier, coupled with the
awful weather we have had to endure recently, the standard of the performances surpassed anything we have seen at this time of year for a number of seasons.
In the Junior Class, Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors (43.95) came first - continuing where they left off at the end of the 2011 season whilst Concord Allstars came second (36.45).
In the eight Corps Open Class contest The Company (68.00) took first blood followed
closely by reigning DCUK Champions Kidsgrove Scouts (65.55). The 6th from came third (51.90)and were closly followed by Poynton Commodores (50.30) and Staffordshire Knights (49.75) with East Coast Elite (46.65), Revolution (42.00) and Beeches (38.85).
A full recap of the scores from this show can be
found on our results page.
DCUK moves south to Woking on 1st July where 12 Corps will be competition (4 Junior Class and 8 Open Class) with the event kicking off at 12:30. For full details visit the
contests page.
