Scouts set off for USA
Over the next 24 hours the Kidsgrove Scouts will be embarking on
their second visit to the Drum Corps Associates World Championships
in the USA, the first taking place in 2010, with a two week trip
including competing in two contests prior to the Championships and
also an exhibition performance.
On Saturday 25th August the Corps will be competing at the DCA Fanfare
2012 contest in Bridgeport, Connecticut and then the following
day they will be in action in Pennsauken, New Jersey at the DCA Pennsauken Invitational.
On Thursday 30th August the Corps will travel to Annapolis,
Maryland where that evening they will be exhibiting at the DCA At
The Dock event along with 4 other Corps to help publicise the
upcoming Championships that weekend.
On
Friday 31st August some of the Corps will be taking part in the
Individual & Ensembles event and then on Saturday 1st September
at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium will be the Open Class
Preliminary contest which is being broadcast live on the DCA
FanNetwork.
The
top 10 Corps from Prelims then move forward to the main event - the DCA
World Championship Finals - on Sunday 2nd September.
The
Corps travel back home on Monday 3rd September and will be back in
action in the UK on Sunday 9th September in Biggleswade.
We
are hoping to get regular updates from the Corps over the two weeks
and we all wish them every success and hope they have a great trip
