Press release from Kidsgrove Scouts
Boublil and Schönberg’s acclaimed production is making its highly anticipated return to the West End in 2014. Twenty Five years on, Miss Saigon has shown its enduring popularity by setting a new box office record ahead of its return to London next year. More tickets were sold in a single day than for any other theatre show, in the first day of sales, £4.4m had been taken at the box office, beating the previous record of £2.1m
The show's producer Cameron Mackintosh admitted he was taken aback by the figures. "I'm not just surprised, I'm completely amazed, “There is so much interest from everywhere – I'm flummoxed."
In 2014, Kidsgrove Scouts are extremely excited to bring Miss Saigon to the Drum Corps field.
Since Miss Saigon’s sensational record-breaking run at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane 25 years ago, it has played in 300 cities in 15 different languages, winning awards around the world.
This epic love story tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris - but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
