Thurrock Marching Brass to host DCUK Essex show in Thurrock
Due to circumstances beyond its control Thurrock Marching Brass has moved their DCUK Essex show from Romford to Thurrock. They will now be hosting the first DCUK Show for over 25 years in their own back yard at Aveley Football Club, Mill Road, Aveley, Thurrock, RM15
4SJ.
The show is set to welcome to Thurrock some of the UK and Europe’s most accomplished Corps and the excitement of hosting them all in Thurrock Marching Brass’ hometown is already building.
Thurrock Marching Brass will be extending warm welcomes to Junior Class competing corps Black Knights Cadets, travelling to us from Gravesend in Kent; Cadence Juniors making the trip all the way from Surrey & Berkshire; and to our own Thurrock Marching Brass who have stepped up into the Junior Class for the 2014 season after a successful 2013 in Cadets. In the Open Class they will be welcoming nine corps who are travelling from across the UK to be with us on the day. They are 37th Kingswood travelling from Bristol; the 2006 DCUK Champions Black Knights (Senior Corps) travelling from Gravesham in Kent; the 1999 DCUK Champions Cadence (Senior Corps) travelling from Surrey & Berkshire; the five times DCUK Champions (2007, 2009-2012) and 2010 DCE European Champions Kidsgrove Scouts all the way from Staffordshire; Nexus from Biggleswade and Bedford in Bedfordshire; Spirit of Coventry all the way from Coventry; The Pacemakers from St Mary Cray in Kent; and making the trip all the way from Chesterfield in North Derbyshire the reigning 2013 DCUK Champions and two-time DCE European Champions (2011, 2012), The Company.
Speaking of the show, Chairman, Paul Morgan comments “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming to Thurrock such an incredible list of established elite marching bands and drum corps. The contest will be thrilling to watch and to be a part of, but even more than that it has been over 25 years since a spectacle of this nature has been seen in the great borough of Thurrock and I know this will set the stage for many more in the future. I would urge everyone to put 7 September 2014 into their diaries and come along to enjoy all that is good about marching music and see first class performances by corps from across the UK. Add to all that the 2014 World Record Attempt for the longest Fanfare Line in history and this really is an event not to be missed”.
