DrumLine Battle™
success at DCUK Championships
On Saturday 19th September the UK saw its first official DrumLine Battle™ take place with 4 units battling it out to be crowned the days Champion. The event took place as part of the 2015 British Drum Corps Championships in Widnes, Cheshire and immediately followed the last performance in the Open Class Finals competition and provided a fitting floodlit finale to the day’s proceedings.
The first battle was between Concord AllStars and Thurrock Marching Brass and from the first beat the crowd really got behind both these very young groups. It was a close call and the audience vote echoed this but after a short amount of deliberation Concord AllStars were announced as the group through to the Final.
The second battle featured the 12 members (including one juggler!) of The Company against the 4 man group from The Pacemakers and in true British style the whole stadium really got behind the underdogs and The Pacemakers were put through to the Final.
And so to that Final! The noise levels now from the enthusiastic audience was almost deafening as the two units battled it out but at the end of the day there was only going to be one winner and the stadium erupted as Concord AllStars where pronounced the Champions.
Congratulations to all the competing units for providing a fantastic spectacle to finish off the final day of the UK Drum Corps season and also special mention to the audience for taking such an active part in the proceedings and making it such a memorable moment for those taking part.
