The
Company - success in the USA
For two weeks at the beginning
of August The Company travelled over to the USA to take part in the
Drum Corps International World Championships in Indiana.
The Corps competed in 3
contests (Clifton NJ, Allentown PA and Avon Lake OH) prior to the
Open Class Championships in Michigan City IN on Tuesday 8th August
where they were place 8th.
They then moved onto
Indianapolis IN to compete in the World Class Championships on
Thursday 10th August at the magnificent Lucas Oil Stadium where they
achieved 30th Place.
To conclude their trip, on
Saturday 12th August they competed in DrumLine Battle where they won
their Semi Final and only just missed out on being Champions.
On the same day they also
competed in the SoundSport event where they were Gold medal winners
plus as well as being Best In Class & Best unit with under 50
members, they were awarded the top prize becoming the 2017
SoundSport World Champions.
Before setting off back home
the Corps arranged to donate their props, that had been made for
them in the USA, and their flag poles to the school that hosted them
when they arrived, West Milford High School in Clifton NJ and their
bedding was donated to homeless charities in Indianapolis via the
Mayor Office. A great way to ensure that these items were
recycled and made available to those that need them.
DCUK would like to congratulate
The Company on their successes and for being such great ambassadors
for the UK activity.
