Over the past few years DCUK has welcomed overseas Corps to compete at the British Drum Corps Championships and 2019 was no exception.
As these Corps are not members of Drum Corps United Kingdom they are not eligible to be UK Champions or win the Bronze, Silver or Gold medals but are still announced in the correct position in the results based on the score they attain plus are in the running for any of the Caption Awards
This year we were extremely pleased that two Corps travelled to the UK for our Championships with Vikings Drum Corps from Ireland making the trip for the second year running, and also, with their first visit to the event, Starriders Drum & Bugle Corps from Germany.
For our 40th Anniversary Championships, that took place in September, to acknowledge the achievements of these overseas Corps, a new set of Awards were created under the title of International Class (supported by Drum Corps International) and we would like to congratulate Starriders on coming in 3rd in the overall Open Class rankings on the day and on winning this years International Award and in addition the High Percussion Caption Award and congratulations to the Vikings on achieving 6th Place in Open Class plus also being Runners Up in the International Class.
DCUK would also like to thank Showband Jong-Holland for making the trip across to the UK as they competed at the Woking contest at the end of June this year.
We are pleased to say we have already had other mainland Europe Corps make contact about coming over to the UK in 2020 and any other Corps interested in making the trip at any time but especially to the 41st British Drum Corps Championships on Saturday 19th September 2020, then feel free to get in touch and we can help answer any questions.
