On Saturday 17th May we held a face to face SoundSport Meeting which was attended by 5 units - as a follow on from the recent online meeting - and was part of the WGUK: Winter Guard United Kingdom Spintastic training weekend in Stoke On Trent. 

As well as discussing the 2025 events (venues, performances, judging etc), and looking ahead to 2026, a number of other topics were touched upon including:

Recruitment, Safeguarding, Marketing, Fundraising inc Grant applications and possible additional events in the future.

One of the main points highlighted was that doing SoundSport this winter had helped inspire and revitalise some groups - with one attending Director commenting...

..."Our members had seen others ‘move’ and requested we add movement for the later show we did"

After the disappointment of announcing that we will not have a DCUK summer season this year it was so encouraging to hear of units future plans, not only of the attending organisations but others that had made contact but were not able to be in Stoke on the day. 

In the words of the Director of one attending unit...

..."I was inspired by the positive energy in the SoundSport discussions"

plus a message sent in from one of the groups that were not able to attend on Saturday...

..."the kids were 'Buzzing' after their performance as this was our first major activity event since before Covid"
